Shweta Basu Prasad recently shared a troubling experience from her time on a Telugu film set, revealing that she was constantly reminded of her height by the crew. Speaking in an interview, the actress recounted how her co-actor was significantly taller, and the comments about their height difference became an everyday occurrence during shooting.
Reflecting on the experience, Shweta recalled how the crew repeatedly pointed out the height gap between her and the lead actor. At 5’2, she found herself being unfairly targeted as her co-star stood nearly 6 feet tall. “Every single day, I was reminded of my height. My co-actor would keep messing up scenes, needing multiple retakes, and yet the focus was always on something I had no control over,” she shared. She expressed her frustration, adding, “He struggled with the language, just like I did, but I managed. Yet, I was the one constantly singled out. It was the only set where I truly felt bullied, and it was really bad.”
Shweta has been a prominent name in Telugu cinema since her debut in Kotha Bangaru Lokam (2008). Over the years, she has worked in several films, including Ride (2009), Kasko (2009), Kalavar King (2010), Priyudu (2011), Genius (2012), and Vijetha (2016). Her acting career began much earlier at the age of 11 when she delivered a remarkable dual performance in Makdee (2002), earning the National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Following this, she gained further recognition in television with Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Karishma Kaa Karishma. Her portrayal of Khadija in Iqbal (2005) received critical acclaim, winning her the Best Supporting Actress Award at the 5th Karachi International Film Festival.
Despite facing such challenges in her journey, Shweta remains an accomplished and resilient actress, with a career spanning multiple film industries and an array of memorable performances.
