On Tuesday, the Supreme Court expressed dissatisfaction with the remarks made by national award winner Ranveer Allahbadia during his guest appearance on the comedy show ‘India’s Got Latent. “What are the boundaries of obscenity and vulgarity?” the top court questioned Allahbadia’s lawyer.
The Supreme Court granted interim protection to the YouTuber and podcaster from arrest concerning various FIRs filed against him across India.

“In the name of freedom of speech, no one has the licence to speak whatever they want against the norms of the society?” Do you have the licence to say anything to give vent to your dirty mind? Why should you not go to Guwahati to defend yourself?
“The words you have chosen make daughters, sisters, parents and even society feel ashamed’ The pervert mind. These are the levels of depravity you and your henchmen have gone. We have a judicial system, bound by the rule of law. If there are threats, the law will take course.”
“Just because somebody thinks he becomes so popular and can speak any kind of words, can take entire society for granted? Is there anyone on earth who will like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited.”
“What are the values of society? What are these parameter, do you even know?” the court asked Allahbadia’s lawyer.
In a recent development, the Supreme Court has granted interim protection to Ranveer Allahbadia, meaning he will not face arrest at this stage. However, the court has asked him to cooperate fully with investigations taking place in Maharashtra, Assam.
The court also made it clear that no further FIRs will be filed against Allahbadia for his comments during his YouTube show.
