MS Dhoni Reacts To The Rumours Of Retiring Mid-Way In IPL 2025

Each Indian Premier League season brings with it the excitement of watching MS Dhoni in Chennai Super Kings’ yellow—an annual tradition fans cherish deeply. As the iconic wicketkeeper-batter has stepped away from all other formats of cricket, the IPL is now the only stage where Dhoni showcases his brilliance. But with each passing season, speculation about his retirement intensifies, and IPL 2025 has been no different.

Early in the tournament, Dhoni’s batting position sparked fresh discussions. During a tense run chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he came in at number nine, notably after Ravichandran Ashwin. Later, in CSK’s clash against Delhi Capitals, Dhoni walked in to bat much earlier—in the 11th over—with the team in serious trouble at 74/5 chasing a steep 184. Though he remained unbeaten, scoring 30 runs off 26 balls, he couldn’t take the Super Kings over the finish line.

These on-field moments have only fueled the debate around Dhoni’s form, fitness, and future with the franchise. But now, the man himself has spoken out. In a pre-recorded podcast, Dhoni opened up about the retirement chatter and gave fans a reason to hold on to hope.

“Not right now (about retirement). I’m still playing IPL, and I’ve kept it very simple, I take it one year at a time,” he said.

With this clear statement, Dhoni has confirmed his commitment to seeing through the 2025 season. Whether this will be his final campaign remains to be seen, but for now, fans can continue to cheer for the beloved captain—one game, one year at a time.
