Speaking in an interview, the singer confirmed that the episode—which involved Kohli allegedly blocking and later unblocking him on Instagram—has now reached a resolution.
“I just want to say that the issue is now over. A ceasefire has taken place. And whatever I wanted to say, I’ve already said it on social media,” said Rahul, signaling a clear end to the matter and refusing to prolong the drama.
The singer elaborated that what began as a simple, light-hearted remark was blown wildly out of proportion online. “I want to say that people took a joke in the wrong direction and sensationalised it. It got so big that my own people started asking me what had happened,” he said, reflecting on how rapidly the situation escalated due to social media reactions.
Despite the temporary misunderstanding, Rahul made it a point to reaffirm his high regard for Kohli. His words left no ambiguity about the cricketer’s status in the nation’s collective admiration. “No one can question Virat Kohli’s contribution to our country. He’s among our top achievers. You could even call him a Bharat Ratna. His capabilities deserve the highest regard. I deeply respect him,” Rahul stated.
