Reem Shaikh has been delighting audiences with her cooking prowess and comedic timing on Laughter Chefs: Unlimited Entertainment Season 2.
Having started her career as a child artist, the 23-year-old actress has built an impressive portfolio across numerous television shows and music videos. In a recent interview, she candidly discussed her journey in the television industry, shedding light on some of its lesser-known challenges.
During her conversation with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Reem recounted a particular instance where she was rejected for a show simply because she had fewer social media followers.
“Producers these days debate whether they should pick a specific artist because they have more followers and reach. They talk about actors with more or less followers,” Reem revealed. She further elaborated on the pressure within the industry, stating, “Those with whom I have close relationships have told me how much pressure they feel during casting. Some also rejected me, saying, ‘Aapki acting acchi hai, but woh actress ke fans aur reach aapse zyada hai.’ I was told this was for a web show.”
This revelation highlights a significant, and often unseen, aspect of modern casting decisions in entertainment.
