Madhoo, the veteran actress, recently offered her perspective on Deepika Padukone’s decision to step away from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film, Spirit. In an interview, Madhoo emphasized that the situation was simply a negotiation that didn’t materialize, and she sees no grounds for public debate surrounding it.
She explained that Deepika, in her new role as a mother, requested an 8-hour work shift, a request that ultimately wasn’t accommodated by the other party. Madhoo suggested that if the film were an absolute priority for Deepika, she might have been inclined to make alternative arrangements; however, since she didn’t, it became a matter of personal choice. She highlighted that negotiations are a daily occurrence in the film industry, with some deals progressing and others not.
In the interview, Madhoo also expressed her admiration for contemporary women who assert their needs, believing it smooths the path for those who follow. “It is not about having conflicts and constantly fighting. Everything in life is negotiation, and one must know their worth,” she remarked. She further elaborated on the Spirit situation: “Deepika is a new mother; she needs time, and she asked for it. The person on the other side didn’t accept, so that didn’t work out. If Deepika wanted the movie so bad, and was willing to make other arrangements, she would have accepted it—but she did not, and that’s her personal choice. So, I don’t see a big reason for debate.”
She does make sense, doesn’t she?
