Darsheel Safary, the young actor who captured hearts alongside Aamir Khan in the 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par, is deliberately carving out his own career trajectory in the film industry. This includes a conscious decision to avoid leveraging his connection with prominent figures for roles, even when it might offer an easier route. In a recent chat with Mid-day, Safary openly shared why he’s never approached Aamir Khan for work, despite their enduring bond.
“Whatever work I’ve done after the pandemic has been through zero contacts. Auditions and screen tests allow me to understand whether I’m able to do [a role] and also help producers and directors understand if I fit it,” Darsheel explained, highlighting his firm belief in earning roles based purely on merit.
While many fans often ponder why he hasn’t collaborated with Aamir Khan again or sought his assistance, Darsheel admitted he finds the very idea awkward. “People get upset that I don’t ask Aamir for work. But I feel too shy to do that. He is not my brother so I can call him and say, ‘Please get me a script.’ My chosen path has been to [only] send him best wishes, like a text on his birthday. It’s just how I preferred it,” he clarified, underscoring his independent approach to navigating his career.
