Diljit Dosanjh has ignited new speculation with a cryptic Instagram story, posing the question: “Censored before release?”
This intriguing post, seemingly referencing his long-delayed film Punjab 95, appears at a time when the acclaimed singer and actor is facing criticism for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in his upcoming Punjabi film, Sardaar Ji 3.
The horror-comedy, which marks the third installment in the popular Sardaar Ji franchise, is bypassing a theatrical release in India and is instead set to premiere overseas on Friday, June 27. This decision comes amidst public backlash over Hania Aamir’s casting, exacerbated by recent tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22 terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam and India’s retaliatory Operation Sindoor on May 7.

Meanwhile, Punjab 95, a film based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, has encountered numerous delays and censorship challenges.
The movie, which sheds light on extra-judicial killings of Sikh men in the late 1990s, was denied release earlier this year after the Censor Board reportedly recommended 120 cuts.
