Sanjeev Goenka expressed immense pride as Rishabh Pant etched his name into cricket history, becoming only the second wicketkeeper ever to smash two centuries in a single Test match. This remarkable achievement unfolded during the series opener against England on Monday.

Goenka quickly took to social media to celebrate Pant’s incredible performance on day four of the first Test, played at Headingley in Leeds. “Two good! Back-to-back centuries for Rishabh Pant. Aggressive, audacious, brilliant. Only the second wicketkeeper in history to score a century in both innings of a Test,” Goenka posted on X, formerly Twitter, highlighting the sheer brilliance of Pant’s innings.

The only other wicketkeeper to accomplish this rare feat was Zimbabwe’s former stumper Andy Flower, who recorded scores of 142 and an unbeaten 199 against South Africa in Harare back in 2001.

On the fourth and penultimate day of the Test, Pant scored a magnificent 118 off 140 balls. This made him the first Indian to score hundreds in both innings of a Test match in England. Combined with his superb 134 in the first innings, Pant now stands as the seventh Indian to achieve centuries in both innings of a Test. Before him, the legendary Sunil Gavaskar accomplished this three times, Rahul Dravid twice, and Vijay Hazare, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane each achieved it once in their careers.
