In a spectacular display of leadership and batting prowess, Smriti Mandhana, stepping in as India’s captain due to Harmanpreet Kaur’s injury, powered her team to a dominant 97-run victory over England in the first T20I in Nottingham. Mandhana, who scored her maiden T20I century, was instrumental in setting a formidable total, smashing an impressive 112 runs off just 62 balls and guiding India to 210/5 in their innings.

Despite this record-breaking performance, the 28-year-old left-hander candidly admitted that the T20I format isn’t her most natural fit, as she favors precise timing over aggressive power-hitting.

However, after experiencing the exhilaration of such a high score and shattering records, Smriti Mandhana is now determined to replicate these high-scoring feats in future matches. “It’s a nice feeling because, of course, this format is something which, for me as a batter, I need to keep pushing and keep improving. It’s not a very natural format for me because I like to time the ball, not a big hitter of the ball, and for the last six years, it’s always a work in progress, and it’s still a work in progress,” Mandhana was quoted as saying by ICC.

Her exceptional performance serves as a testament to her continuous dedication and a desire for even greater success.
