According to an article in India Today, Arjun Tendulkar, the son of former cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, became engaged on Wednesday to Saaniya Chandok, the granddaughter of Mumbai industrialist Ravi Ghai. Only close friends and family attended the private ceremony.

The InterContinental hotel and the ice cream company Brooklyn Creamery are owned by the Ghai family, who are well-known in the food and hospitality industries.

Regarding the engagement, neither the Tendulkar nor the Ghai families has issued an official announcement. Arjun’s most recent Instagram story showed him practicing his bowling technique. It was posted earlier in the day with the description, “Just cricket ground.” He tried to put lipstick on her sister during his Rakshabandhan party with Sara, which was his final social media post. The description for the entertaining video read, “Happy Rakshabandhan from this chaotic duo.”

Sachin was married young as well. He asked Annabelle Mehta, Anjali’s mother, whether he could marry her daughter when he was just 19 years old. But he didn’t get married until 1995, at the age of 22.

Arjun Tendulkar is a 25-year-old all-rounder who bowls fast with his left arm and plays domestic cricket for Goa. He has scored 532 runs at 23.13 and claimed 37 wickets at 33.51 in 17 First Class games. Among the runs is a century he scored during his first-class debut for Goa against Rajasthan in the Ranji Trophy in 2022. His father’s feat of making a century on his Ranji debut, 34 years earlier, when playing for Mumbai against Gujarat in 1988, was duplicated by this milestone.

He scored 102 runs in 10 innings and took 25 wickets at 31.32 in 18 List A matches. He has 119 runs in 11 innings and 27 wickets at 25.07 in 24 Twenty20 matches.

In the Indian Premier League, he has also played for the Mumbai Indians. He made his debut in 2023 against the Kolkata Knight Riders after being purchased for INR 20 lakh at the 2021 IPL auction. In a 14-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Arjun took his first wicket after dismissing Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Mumbai kept him for the 2024 season after taking two more wickets in the IPL 2023. He has only appeared in five games for the squad overall, four of which were in the IPL 2023 and one of which was the following year. He was reacquired for INR 30 lakh at the mega auction after being released by the team before the 2025 season.

Saaniya comes from one of the most well-known business families in Mumbai and is renowned for keeping a low profile in public.
