Jolly LLB 3 controversy

A Pune civil court has summoned director Subhash Kapoor, actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi for their upcoming film Jolly LLB 3 in response to a petition submitted by attorney Wajed Rahim Khan.

The court has ordered the three to appear in person on October 28 at 11 a.m.

Advocate Wajed Rahim Khan claims that the action comes after he filed a petition claiming that the movie denigrates the judicial system and court procedures. He expressed disapproval of the way the legal profession was portrayed in the plea and voiced worries about a sequence in which justices were called “mama,” a vulgar term.

Speaking to ANI, he said, “There should be respect for the lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in the court, that whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong… I filed a petition in the Pune court. And the court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Walsi, and the director to be present.”

The third Jolly LLB film, which features Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar in the key roles, marks the return of the franchise’s creators after a nearly eight-year hiatus. Under the auspices of Star Studio 18, it was written and directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare. On September 19, 2025, the movie is scheduled to open in theaters.

On August 12, the eagerly anticipated teaser for Jolly LLB 3, starring Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar, was released.

In 2017, Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi starred in Jolly LLB 2, a spiritual sequel to Jolly LLB, released in 2013. The first film featured Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla in the lead roles. Amrita Rao also starred in the first part.
