In his maiden season with the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Pakistan’s ODI skipper, Muhammad Rizwan, finally found his form. The Patriots fell to Bollywood singer Preity Zinta’s St Lucia Kings by 7 wickets despite Rizwan’s unbeaten 60 off just 41 balls, which was his first CPL fifty.
Oshane Thomas, a West Indies pacer who gave up 22 runs in a single over, was hit by Rizwan with four huge sixes, including consecutive maximums. The Patriots reached 177 for 3 because to the Pakistani wicketkeeper’s scorching fifty.
But the Kings won their second game against the Patriots this season thanks to a smooth run chase by the home team, the St Lucia Kins, in front of a boisterous home crowd. Jason Holder’s team lost for the fifth time in seven games, and they now lie in fifth place in the CPL 2025 standings.
After David Wiese won the toss and introduced the opposition, the South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi claimed 2/17 for the Kings, earning him the title of player of the match. 177/3 appeared to be a difficult score, but Kings’ top order quickly destroyed it.
Johnson Tim Seifert, Charles’ opening partner, spearheaded the chase with a stylish 68 off 45 balls, his third CPL half-century, after Charles got off to a scorching start with 47 off only 17 balls, which included five fours and four sixes.
Utilizing a biscuit-colored batting surface that encouraged stroke play, the two openers amassed 72 runs in the Powerplay. Although neither team was able to clear the finish line, the Kings were able to do so with three overs remaining thanks to Ackeem Auguste (29 off 20), Roston Chase (15 n.o. ), and Tim David (16 n.o.).
“That was a good one. I spoke at the toss about getting a complete team performance. I feel like we covered all our bases. There’s still a little room for improvement, but it was a really good performance from everyone tonight.”
