Real Hero Sonu Sood to bear cost of rebuilding widow’s flood-hit home.Actor Sonu Sood recently visited flood-hit border villages of this border district and pledged to bear the full expenses of rebuilding a widow’s damaged house in Kamalewala village.Actor Sonu Sood accompanied by his sister Malvika Sood, met Parmjit Kaur (55), a widow whose house collapsed during the recent floods. Kaur’s husband, Joginder Singh, had passed away 12 years ago. Now, she owns two acres of farmland, but the rising waters of the Sutlej river have inundated the fields.Her two sons, Amarjit Singh (35) and Sarbjit Singh (25), have been left struggling after their residence, consisting of two rooms, was destroyed when the roof caved in three days ago due to floods. They had also suffered heavy crop losses during last year’s floods.Sood assured Kaur that he would take full responsibility of her financial losses, including repayment of her debt and rebuilding of her house. He urged her not to lose hope.
“Providing food is temporary relief. In such times, true help means adopting affected farmers and villages, helping them rebuild their homes, restoring their fields and providing livestock to replace what they lost. That is the only way to restart their livelihood in a meaningful way,” said Sood.Actor, who has been active in humanitarian work, also distributed mattresses and ration kits to residents of surrounding villages. “I would not leave any stone unturned in assisting those affected by the floods in Punjab’s border belt,” he said.
