Shahid Kapoor’s O Romeo picked up pace on its second day at the box office. The Vishal Bhardwaj directorial earned ₹10.02 crore nett on Saturday, showing a healthy jump from its opening day performance.

According to Sacnilk.com, the film collected ₹8.50 crore on Friday. With Saturday’s surge, O Romeo has now crossed the ₹18 crore mark in just two days, standing at ₹18.52 crore nett in India.

Day 2 Shows Strong Growth

Saturday saw 4,747 shows across the country with an average occupancy of 19.3 per cent. The jump from day one to day two suggests positive word-of-mouth is working in the film’s favor, even if the overall numbers remain modest.

The Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri starrer managed to improve its collections by nearly 18 per cent on Saturday. For a film that opened to mixed reviews, this growth pattern indicates audiences are curious enough to give it a chance over the weekend.

How Does It Compare to Kabir Singh?

Here’s where things get interesting. Shahid’s biggest blockbuster, Kabir Singh, had earned ₹22.71 crore on its second day back in 2019. That’s more than double what O Romeo managed on day two.

The Sandeep Reddy Vanga film went on to become one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time. O Romeo clearly has a long way to go if it wants to match those numbers.

But comparing every Shahid film to Kabir Singh might not be fair. O Romeo is a different beast altogether—a gangster drama rooted in the dark underbelly of Mumbai’s mafia world.

What Critics Are Saying

The Hindustan Times praised Shahid as “easily the film’s biggest draw” and called him the primary reason O Romeo remains watchable. Triptii Dimri also earned appreciation for slipping comfortably into Bhardwaj’s gritty universe.

Their chemistry has given the film some of its most engaging moments, according to the review. However, actors like Avinash Tiwary and Tamannaah Bhatia couldn’t break past what critics called “familiar caricatures” and underutilized roles.

Nana Patekar, as expected, delivered a dependable performance.

Triptii Opens Up About Her Role

Recently, Triptii took to Instagram to share her experience playing Afshan in the film. “She’s fire and fragility in the same breath,” the actress wrote. “This role challenged me, demanded honesty and pushed me beyond my comfort zone.”

Her emotional note resonated with fans who’ve been praising her performance across social media platforms.

What’s O Romeo About?

The film is produced under Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and features an ensemble cast including Vikrant Massey, Disha Patani, and Farida Jalal.

O Romeo is inspired by a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Shahid plays gangster Hussain Ustara in a narrative exploring passion, pain, and the brutal consequences of forbidden love.

The film’s weekend performance will be crucial. If O Romeo can maintain momentum through Sunday, it might cross ₹30 crore by the end of its opening weekend. Whether it has the legs to sustain beyond that remains the big question.
