When people think of romantic cities, they often imagine Parisian streets or fancy dinners in New York. But according to a new global survey, the world’s most affordable city for a date night is actually much closer to home — Bengaluru.

India’s IT capital has topped Deutsche Bank’s “Mapping the World’s Prices” survey under its Cheap Date Index. The study compared the average cost of a full date night for two people across major global cities. It included dinner, wine, coffee, movie tickets, transport, and even basic clothing items like jeans and a dress.

The difference was striking. In cities like Geneva, couples could spend close to $470 for a similar evening. In Bengaluru, the same experience costs around $104, less than one-third of what people pay in many Western cities. This made Bengaluru the most budget-friendly destination in the world for romance.

What makes the city special is not just the low cost, but the variety it offers. Bengaluru has a vibrant café culture, popular craft breweries, rooftop restaurants, and modern multiplexes. Couples can enjoy quality time together without stretching their budgets. The city’s youthful energy, driven by students, tech professionals, and young entrepreneurs, adds to its charm and makes socializing easy and lively.

The survey also reflects a larger trend. Even as Indian metros modernize rapidly, they remain far more affordable than many global cities. For young professionals and students, this means more chances to go out, meet people, and build relationships without constant financial stress.

So if anyone wonders where love is easiest on the wallet, the answer is clear: Bengaluru. The city proves that romance isn’t about how much you spend, sometimes, it’s just about good company, warm coffee, and a simple evening under the lights.
