Music and film producer Bhushan Kumar recently shared new details about the biopic of his late father, legendary producer Gulshan Kumar. In an interview, Bhushan Kumar shed light on the project’s development and the challenges involved in bringing it to the screen.
According to Bhushan Kumar, actor Aamir Khan was originally chosen for the leading role, and although this was never officially announced, it was widely speculated. Bhushan Kumar confirmed that Aamir Khan is still passionate about being part of the project, expressing that the script is “the best [he’s] ever read in recent times” and that he is eager to portray Gulshan Kumar’s life on screen.
However, the project has faced delays due to script approval, particularly from Bhushan’s mother, Sudesh Kumari. Bhushan noted that while the initial script received positive feedback, his mother has reservations about its narrative perspective. She prefers a portrayal from a different angle than the one currently written, which has led to ongoing revisions. “I can’t make a film about my father if my mother isn’t convinced about it,” Bhushan stated, emphasizing the importance of his mother’s approval for an accurate and respectful portrayal of Gulshan Kumar’s legacy.
While no release date is set, Bhushan is optimistic that his mother will eventually approve the revised script, allowing the biopic to move forward.
