Producer Boney Kapoor recently shared amusing anecdotes and heartfelt insights about his younger brother, Bollywood star Anil Kapoor, and his own experience with a hair transplant. Speaking to a news channel, Boney reflected on Anil’s early days in the film industry and his unwavering passion for acting.
Boney Kapoor revealed that Anil’s journey to stardom was anything but easy. From his school days, Anil harbored dreams of becoming an actor. In fact, he even played a young version of Shashi Kapoor in a school performance. Boney humorously recounted how, during Anil’s early acting days, his excitement led him to keep his makeup intact for several days without bathing.
“Anil always wanted to become an actor,” Boney shared. “When he played the role of Shashi Kapoor’s child version, he didn’t bathe for 2-3 days. He didn’t want the makeup to come off so that everyone would think he had become an actor!”
Anil Kapoor’s career began with small roles, including a sidekick in Ek Baar Kaho, and ventures into regional cinema, with films in Telugu and Kannada. Boney highlighted Anil’s role in Mani Ratnam’s debut film as another stepping stone
“He worked very hard,” Boney noted. “For one Ramesh Sippy film, Anil even shaved his chest hair completely to look like a 16-year-old. He would do pull-ups to appear taller. That’s the kind of dedication he had.”
Boney, who eventually found success behind the camera, admitted that in his youth, he occasionally wondered why he didn’t follow in Anil’s footsteps as an actor. He also candidly mentioned his hair transplant journey, reflecting his willingness to embrace change and self-improvement.
Anil Kapoor’s story, as shared by his brother, serves as a testament to his passion, determination, and relentless pursuit of excellence. From enduring early struggles to establishing himself as one of Bollywood’s most versatile actors, Anil’s journey continues to inspire.
