DDCA Official Advises Virat Kohli To Take Inspiration From Mumbai Cricketers & Play Ranji

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) secretary Ashok Sharma has encouraged legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli to take inspiration from Mumbai cricketers and participate in the Ranji Trophy for Delhi whenever he is available.

Virat Kohli, widely regarded as one of the greatest cricketers of all time, last played a Ranji Trophy match for Delhi in 2012. The 36-year-old right-handed batter has been included in Delhi’s probable squad for the final two rounds of the Ranji Trophy alongside Rishabh Pant, though no official confirmation has been provided regarding his participation.

Ashok Sharma was quoted by a leading daily on Tuesday stating that both Virat and Rishabh’s names are on the probable list, with the Ranji Trophy camp currently underway. Sharma emphasized that Virat Kohli should draw inspiration from Mumbai cricketers who have a tradition of participating in Ranji matches whenever available, a practice he believes is lacking in Northern India, particularly in Delhi.

Sharma added that the BCCI has encouraged Indian players to take part in domestic cricket, and expressed his hope that Virat will play at least one match for Delhi.
