Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee have officially begun their journey as husband and wife. After a long courtship, the couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at Prateik’s late mother Smita Patil’s home in Bandra, Mumbai. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, the wedding was a heartfelt tribute to love, culture, and togetherness. The couple shared stunning pictures from their traditional nuptials, leaving fans enchanted by the beautiful celebration.
However, amid the joyous occasion, family tensions came to light. Aarya Babbar, Prateik’s half-brother, expressed his disappointment at being excluded from the ceremony. In a recent interview, he revealed his confusion and hurt, stating that he always believed in a strong bond with Prateik. Rather than blaming his brother directly, Aarya suggested that someone might be influencing Prateik’s decisions, creating a distance between him and the Babbar family.
“I presume someone has overpowered his brain too much. He does not want to connect with anyone from this side of the family. He has decided not to call anyone,” Aarya remarked. While he admitted to feeling let down, he also stated that he is trying to understand Prateik’s perspective. He was particularly surprised by the exclusion of their father, Raj Babbar, arguing that regardless of other family members being left out, their father should have been part of the occasion.
Aarya even took a lighthearted yet pointed jab at the situation, commenting, “My dad married twice, Prateik has married twice, even my dog has two girlfriends.”
Prateik Babbar is the son of the late actress Smita Patil and veteran actor Raj Babbar. Raj and Smita’s love story began on the sets of the 1982 film Bheegi Palkein, leading to Raj leaving his first wife, Nadira Babbar, to marry Smita. Tragically, Smita passed away at the young age of 31 due to complications after childbirth, shortly after giving birth to Prateik in November 1986. In the years that followed, Raj reunited with Nadira, and they had two children, Aarya and Juhi Babbar.
While Prateik and Priya embark on their new journey together, the undercurrents of familial estrangement cast a shadow over the celebration. Whether the wounds heal in time remains to be seen, but for now, the newlyweds are basking in the happiness of their union.
