Former Australian fast bowler Brendon Julian has made a bold prediction for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, asserting that Australia, led by Pat Cummins, will overpower India within four days at Perth.
Julian, who represented Australia in 7 Tests and 25 ODIs, believes that India’s challenges with player form and availability could give Australia a significant advantage in the series opener.
Julian highlighted several factors that he thinks could hinder India’s chances. With Rohit Sharma likely sidelined, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to take over as captain—a shift that Julian sees as a critical drawback for India. He also pointed to the absence of key bowler Mohammed Shami, who is currently playing in India’s domestic Ranji Trophy, and expressed concern about Virat Kohli’s recent form and perceived disconnect with the coaching staff.
While Julian acknowledged India’s potential to put up a tough fight, he predicted that these challenges would heavily favor Australia, and he expects the hosts to go 1-0 up in the series.
