When Vaibhav Suryavanshi took his guard for the first time in the IPL, he had already etched his name into the history books as the youngest player to appear in the tournament. What followed added more spark to the moment—he dispatched Shardul Thakur’s very first delivery for a six, announcing his arrival in the most emphatic fashion. That debut innings of 34 off 20 balls wasn’t just a promising start, it was a glimpse of a special talent waiting to explode.
Fast forward to Monday, and the 14-year-old prodigy did just that. In only his third IPL appearance, Vaibhav delivered a breathtaking knock, scoring a century in just 35 balls—setting a new record for the fastest hundred by an Indian in IPL history. At an age when most teens are navigating school exams, he was rewriting T20 cricket records on a grand stage.
Following his spectacular performance, Vaibhav Suryavanshi turned the spotlight toward his biggest supporters—his family. In an emotional interview, he spoke of the sacrifices made by his parents, especially his mother Aarti and father Sanjeev. “I am what I am because of my parents. My mother, for the sake of my practice schedule, wakes up at 2 in the morning after going to sleep at 11, sleeping barely three hours. She then prepares meals for me. My father left his work to support me. My elder brother is taking care of his work and the household is running with great difficulty. But papa is backing me,” he said.
He also expressed deep faith in hard work, adding, “…God ensures that those who work hard never fail. The results that we are seeing and the success that I am achieving is because of my parents.”
As the cricketing world marvels at Vaibhav’s rapid rise, his words remind us that behind every young star is a story of sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering family support.
