Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli faced heavy criticism after their underwhelming performances in the five-match Test series against Australia, which concluded on Sunday. Kohli participated in all five matches, scoring 190 runs, while Rohit managed only 31 runs in five innings across three Tests.
Following India’s 1-3 defeat in the away series, many fans, former players, and cricket experts questioned their place in the Indian Test team and suggested they consider stepping away from red-ball cricket.
However, former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has defended the two star cricketers, urging the public to remember their past achievements.
Speaking to PTI on Tuesday, Yuvraj emphasized that both Kohli and Rohit have been among the greatest cricketers of this generation and deserve respect despite their recent struggles. He acknowledged that while their performance fell short, the duo is likely more hurt by the criticism than anyone else.
He is certainly saying the right thing.
