The famous lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar has never hesitated in showing his dislike for the movie, Animal which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Triptii Dimri, etc. in important roles.
The movie was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and though it earned around Rs. 900 crores at the box-office, it was slammed a lot by many including some Bollywood celebs for being toxic and problematic.
Earlier, Javed Akhtar called the success of Animal dangerous for the society and recently when he was asked why the concept of an angry young man has not remained relevant in the north Indian movies but it is still relevant in southern movies, he said, “In south also, he (the hero) is turning into a caricature. Now he is the kind of man who wants a woman to lick his shoe. He is already starting to turn into a caricature of an angry young man or a strong man.”
When Javed Akhtar was asked whether he has seen Animal, he said, “I have not seen Animal. People told me about it, and I read in the news that he asks her to lick his shoe. She bends down, but thank god they cut it right there.”
