Madalsa Sharma, who portrayed Kavya on Anupamaa for over four years, recently spoke candidly about her co-star Rupali Ganguly in an interview with Siddharth Kannan. After quitting the popular show, Madalsa opened up about some behind-the-scenes issues she faced, revealing that Rupali had spoken about her behind her back on several occasions, which left her feeling hurt.
Madalsa admitted that discovering Rupali’s behavior was painful, particularly because she had no ill feelings towards her co-star. “Sometimes, I felt that someone is a certain way in front of us, but they aren’t the same behind our backs. A few times, I felt that things were not said in a very polished way about me, and when I got to know, it hurt me. I was like, ‘Why? Firstly, I have nothing against you; we are actors, we work together,’” Madalsa shared.
She further explained that she couldn’t understand why she was treated this way, especially since she hadn’t done anything to deserve it. “There were a couple of incidents where I was genuinely hurt. I mean, I haven’t done anything to you for you to behave this way with me… either you be this way in front of me as well, or if you don’t like me, say it to my face but don’t talk behind my back,” she added.
Madalsa clarified that while these incidents hurt her, they were minor misunderstandings, which are common on large sets. Despite the tension, they would eventually resolve their issues in a peaceful manner. “We would sit together, talk about it, and then move on, and we would hug it out also. Like forget it now, bygones are bygones. Neither of us took an initiative to resolve anything, it was just organic. Organic and respectful.”
After Madalsa’s departure from the show, Rupali reached out to her via text, wishing her the best. “She said all the best, don’t disappear and be in touch, and we’ll catch up and talk in leisure,” Madalsa recalled. However, when asked if she would miss Rupali, Madalsa honestly replied that she wouldn’t.
