Malayalam Actress Sowmya Alleges Rape By Tamil Director, Says “He Used My Body”

Malayalam actress Sowmya has come forward with serious accusations against an unnamed Tamil director, claiming that he seually assaulted her. In a recent interview, she alleged that the filmmaker “groomed” her as a sx slave and once kissed her while his wife was away. Sowmya admitted she agreed to act in one of his films out of a sense of obligation but felt uncomfortable with him from their first meeting.

While Sowmya has chosen not to publicly name the director, she has expressed her intent to disclose his identity to the special police team set up by the Kerala government. This team is currently investigating numerous sexual harassment allegations within the film industry.

She said, “One fine day, when his wife wasn’t around, this man, while calling me his daughter, kissed me. I completely froze. I was so desperate to tell my friends but couldn’t… I was ashamed, thinking I had done something wrong and that I was obligated to be nice to this man.”

Sowmya further added, “So I continued going for practice, for dance rehearsals… every day I went back and gradually, step by step, this man completely used my body to his advantage. At some point he forced himself on me… so he raped me. This went on for close to a year while I was in college. It took 30 years for me to heal and recover from this sense of ‘shame’… I encourage survivors to report all such abuse.”

These allegations arise amidst a broader investigation into sexual misconduct in the Malayalam film industry. The issue gained national attention following the public release of the Justice Hema Committee Report. Currently, FIRs have been lodged against nine film industry figures, including notable names such as Mukesh, Siddique, Jayasurya, Edavela Babu, and Nivin Pauly, based on complaints filed by women in the industry.
