McTominay eyes special position in club’s history with Carabao & Emirates FA Cups win

Scott McTominay is motivated by the possibility of securing a special position in the club’s history by winning both Carabao Cups and Emirates FA Cups in the same season. He believes the emphasis should be on themselves and what they can do rather than trying to stop others..

The current Manchester United team, according to Scott McTominay, is motivated by the possibility of securing a special position in the club’s history on Saturday.

The Reds have won six Carabao Cups and 12 Emirates FA Cups, but we have never won both trophies in the same season.

After defeating Newcastle United 2-0 at Wembley in February to clinch the Carabao Cup, Erik ten Hag’s team now visits the same venue for what is unquestionably the most eagerly awaited FA Cup final in recent memory.

While Scott believes the emphasis should be on ourselves and what we can do rather than trying to stop others, Manchester City remains the opponent and the Blues are still looking for a treble of trophies this season.

When asked if the possibility of a domestic-cup double provided additional motivation, he answered, “Course it is.

The match against Fulham was the flip side of it, and the incentive to win there was to tie the record for most home victories in a season (27), which is significant to both us and the manager and his team.

We all wish to contribute to this football club’s history, which is a wonderful honor and duty.

The greatest approach to advance, in my opinion, is to create little goals that you want to hit. We want to be part in that.

Despite the nationwide rail strikes this weekend, a thrilling atmosphere is anticipated in north London on Saturday when the Reds and Blues divide the field evenly.

Along with tens of thousands of other fans who have supported the squad during what has been a monumental season, Scott’s family, the most of whom are lifelong United supporters, will be in attendance to support the team.

McTominay, who has been a member of the club since he was five years old, has always had a deep connection to our supporters and is eager to reward their belief at Wembley.

Since I was a little child and went to watch sports, I’ve felt the bond, McTominay continued.

“Regardless of the good or terrible times, there has always been that bond with the group.

“Right now, we’re doing very, really well. We’ve won one cup final, are participating in another, and we’re in the top four in the Champions League, which is incredible for us.

“I feel like that’s how it goes: the fans support us no matter the weather, but especially this season, I feel like they’ve been there for every game, from the first minute to the last.

They are by far the finest fans in the entire globe.
