Smriti Irani, who competed against Congressman Kishori Lal in the Lok Sabha Elections of 2024 from the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh, lost the race by an overwhelming majority of 167,196 votes. Following her defeat in the election, Smriti posted on Instagram to accept her loss and to recognize her years of service to the constituency. “Such is life… A decade of my life going from one village to another, building lives, nurturing hope & aspirations, working on infrastructure — roads, naali, khadanja, bypass, medical college and more,” wrote Smriti Irani.
She also thanked everyone who had supported her through good times and bad. “I will always be grateful to everyone who supported me in both my victories and my defeats. Congratulations to everyone who is celebrating today. And to those who enquire, “How’s Josh?” It’s still high, I say, Sir,” Smriti Irani continued.

The comment area featured a red heart emoji from actor Sonu Sood. Actress Aashka Goradia endorsed Smriti Irani as well. “Every day, with you! Smriti Irani attended a news conference shortly after the results were announced, during which she stated that she had dedicated ten years of her life to Amethi and that she will carry on serving the community in the future.
“I would like to thank all of the BJP party workers and supporters who have dedicated their lives to serving the constituency and the party.” I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today for their governments’ completion of 30 years’ worth of unfinished work in just five years. I’m happy for the winners. Smriti Irani declared, “I will keep serving the people of Amethi.”
