Actor Prateik Babbar and longtime girlfriend Priya Banerjee tied the knot on February 14 in a private wedding ceremony. The couple, who have been together for years, opted for an intimate celebration at home, surrounded by close family and friends. While their wedding pictures radiated love and happiness, the absence of Prateik’s family, particularly his father, veteran actor Raj Babbar, raised eyebrows.
Aarya Babbar, Prateik’s stepbrother, recently revealed in an interview that no members of the Babbar family were invited to the wedding. Expressing his disappointment, Aarya admitted he was puzzled by Prateik’s decision, as he had always assumed they shared a close bond. “I presume someone has overpowered his brain too much. He has decided not to call anyone from this side of the family,” Aarya remarked, hinting that external influence might have played a role.
While Aarya acknowledged that Prateik might have chosen not to invite Nadira Babbar, Raj Babbar’s second wife and Aarya’s mother, he found it surprising that their father was left out. “Life is no less than a film; someone in the house is influencing him. I don’t want to believe it’s Prateik himself,” he added.
Despite the family tensions, Prateik and Priya’s wedding was a dreamy affair. The couple shared stunning pictures from their ceremony, captioning them, “I’ll marry you in every lifetime #priyaKAprateik.” Their wedding included traditional haldi and mehendi rituals, followed by a heartfelt pheras ceremony.
The couple looked regal in custom ensembles designed by Tarun Tahiliani. Priya dazzled in an ivory and gold lehenga with intricate embroidery, paired with a corset and a sheer dupatta. Her bridal look was completed with exquisite kundan jewellery, including a maangtika, bangles, a choker, and statement earrings. Keeping it elegant, she opted for a soft, natural makeup look.
Prateik complemented his bride in a matching open sherwani, paired with a signature drape shirt and a classic dhoti set, finishing off his ensemble with a layered pearl necklace.
Born to the late actress Smita Patil and Raj Babbar, Prateik has often been candid about his journey of self-discovery and relationships. Following the passing of Smita Patil, Raj Babbar remarried Nadira Babbar, with whom he had Aarya and Juhi Babbar.
Before Priya Banerjee, Prateik was married to Sanya Sagar. The couple wed in 2019 but parted ways in 2023. While the Babbar family’s absence from his second wedding has raised speculation, Prateik appears to be embracing a new chapter of love and companionship with Priya by his side.
