Prithvi Shaw’s Inner Circle Is Responsible For His Struggles, Alleges MLA Sanjay Potnis

Prithvi Shaw, once hailed as a ‘generational talent,’ finds himself at a career crossroads. The cricketer, who led India to victory in the 2018 U19 World Cup and scored a century on his Test debut, has seen his fortunes decline sharply in recent years. His recent failure to secure a bid at the IPL mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, underscores the uncertainty surrounding his career trajectory.

Concerns have been raised about Shaw’s lifestyle and the absence of the drive that once defined him. Sanjay Potnis, an MLA from Kalina and a long-time supporter of Shaw, has expressed disappointment in the influences surrounding the young cricketer.

In an interview, Sanjay Potnis alleged that Prithvi Shaw lacks the right support system. “His game is not bad, but the people around him are of different kinds. No one is taking care of his sport; everyone is just taking advantage of him. He is dependent on himself,” said Potnis.

Potnis further highlighted how relocating from Santacruz to other parts of Mumbai left Shaw without the guidance and care he needed during critical stages of his development.

Potnis was among the first to offer support to Shaw’s family, providing them with a flat in Santacruz to reduce his daily commute from Virar, a gesture that enabled Shaw to focus on cricket. However, Potnis now believes that the lack of committed people in Shaw’s corner has contributed to his struggles.

The cricketing world hopes to see the young prodigy overcome these challenges and rediscover the form that once set him apart.
