Actress Richa Chadha, renowned for her outspoken stance on social issues, recently highlighted Delhi’s alarming air pollution levels following Diwali celebrations. Through a post on X, she expressed concern over the hazardous air quality caused by firecrackers, which left the city engulfed in thick smog.
Citing a video showcasing widespread firecracker activity, Richa pointed out that the Air Quality Index (AQI) in several parts of Delhi had surpassed 1000—a level deemed extremely hazardous to human health. Reflecting on the recurring smog that envelops the city after Diwali, she emphasized the urgent need for environmental responsibility.
In a heartfelt post, Richa referred to Delhi’s deteriorating air quality as a “death sentence,” lamenting the conditions in the city that holds sentimental value for her.
“The death sentence called life in Delhi… the city of my childhood, my school, my roots… Heartbreaking to see the apathy and sheer hatred for one-selves. Politicians will do nothing unless we learn to speak up for ourselves,” she wrote.
On the professional front, Richa Chadha recently appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazar on Netflix, where she captivated viewers in her role as Lajjo. She is now preparing for her upcoming film Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Shriya Pilgaonkar.
