Bollywood star Salman Khan recently received another threat call, intensifying concerns about his safety. The caller, who contacted the Mumbai Traffic Police control room, mentioned both “Salman Khan” and notorious gangster “Lawrence Bishnoi,” issuing a direct threat to the actor. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the caller and address any immediate risks to Khan’s security.
Salman Khan has been a target of security threats for years, primarily due to his alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case. During the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain, the actor was accused of killing two blackbucks, which are held sacred by the Bishnoi community. Lawrence Bishnoi, a gangster with strong ties to the Bishnoi community, has frequently demanded a public apology from Khan. Bishnoi previously warned that the actor and his father, Salim Khan, could face serious consequences if an apology is not issued. In 2022, Bishnoi reiterated that his community would only forgive Khan if he publicly expresses remorse.
On Thursday, another high-profile threat was reported, this time against Salman Khan’s colleague, Shah Rukh Khan. A call to Mumbai’s Bandra Police Station demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh, reportedly made by a man named Faizan from Raipur, Chhattisgarh. Mumbai Police promptly sent a team to Raipur to investigate and assess the credibility of this threat.
The recent threats follow closely on the heels of the high-profile killing of political figure Baba Siddique, for which an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility. The same statement issued a threat to Salman Khan, prompting law enforcement to heighten security measures around the actor. In response to these threats, the Mumbai Police have implemented additional safety protocols, deploying an escort vehicle to follow Khan’s official car and stationing Special Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel outside his Bandra and Panvel residences.
Amid ongoing security concerns, the Mumbai Police continue to monitor threats against Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, taking stringent steps to safeguard both actors.
