A 20-year-old college student from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was detained on Tuesday morning for allegedly issuing death threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique, son of NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was recently shot dead in Mumbai.
The accused, identified as Mohammed Tayyab, reportedly contacted Zeeshan Siddique’s public relations office on Friday evening. During the call, Tayyab allegedly threatened both Salman Khan and Siddique, an MLA from Bandra East, demanding a ransom to avoid harm.
Following the complaint from Siddique’s office, Nirmal Nagar police quickly registered a case and launched an investigation, which culminated in Tayyab’s arrest. Authorities are currently probing the motive behind the threat and investigating whether there are any wider connections involved.
Zeeshan Siddique, an MLA, recently joined the National Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar, shortly before Maharashtra’s upcoming state assembly elections scheduled for November 20.
Previously associated with the Congress party, Siddique was expelled in August and has since been fielded by the NCP as their candidate in Bandra East, opposing Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate Varun Sirdesai, a relative of Aaditya Thackeray.
