Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to reach the finals of the IPL 2024 after defeating Rajasthan Royals in the qualifier 2 which was played yesterday at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
The hero of this match was Shahbaz Ahmed who scored important 18 runs and then he also dismissed 3 Rajasthan batters in his 4 overs and gave only 23 runs.
Batting first, SRH gave a target of 176 runs to RR but the Rajasthan team fell short by 36 runs and got knocked out of the race of finals. This was certainly a big win and the SRH players deserved to celebrate it but the Player of the Match Shahbaz Ahmed was not in the mood to celebrate. When he was asked as to how he will celebrate his performance, he replied, “Celebrate toh final jeet kar hi karengey. Aj bas relex karenge, (We’ll celebrate only after winning the finals, today we will relax only”).
While talking about his performance, Shahbaz Ahmed said, “The captain and coach said that we’ll use you according to the situation. My role is to play lower-order and since we had a collapse, I got a chance.”
He further added, “When I was batting, I felt this wicket had something when Sandeep and Avesh were bowling. I felt there would be a purchase later. I am feeling proud to be Player of the Match in such a big match. The team environment has been relaxed. I have enjoyed my journey throughout.”
