The Indian cricket team which was led by Shubman Gill has registered a big win against Zimbabwe as they won the 5-match T20I series by 4-1.
All the matches were played at Harare Sports Club, though the hosts shocked the visitors by defeating them in the first match but the young Indian team bounced back in a big manner and won the 4 T20Is on a trot.
The fifth and the final T20I was played yesterday and after winning the toss, the hosts decided to bowl first. India posted a total of 167/6 with the help of Sanju Samson’s brilliant knock of 58 runs for which he faced 45 deliveries and his innings included 1 four & 4 sixes.
Zimbabwe could manage only 125 runs and lost the match by 42 runs and also lost the series by 1-4.
After the match, the skipper Shubman Gill talked about the reason behind India’s defeat in the first match. He said, “I think, the hunger that we showed after losing the first match was fantastic to watch. When we came here, not everyone had a lot of hits in the nets. We weren’t really used to the conditions. The way we adapted (was great).”
The Player of the Series, Washington Sundar also talked about what surprised the Indian batters in Zimbabwe, he said, “Good to finish with a win. I felt after the first game that the conditions were very similar to South Africa, with extra speed and extra bounce. Lots of takeaways, lots of learnings, a lot of confidence going into the Sri Lanka series.”
Well played team India!
