The Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha turned 36 yesterday and quite obviously, social media platforms were flooded with birthday wishes for the actress. She made her debut with Salman Khan starrer Dabangg which was a big hit on the box-office and she is mostly seen in masala movies such as Rowdy Rathore, R…Rakjumar, etc. but she has tried her hands in parallel cinema as well.
If you remember, she was also seen in a movie named Lootera which was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and also starred Ranveer Singh in an important role. Though the flick performed average on the box-office, it was critically acclaimed and both Sonakshi and Ranveer were praised for their acting performances.
However, you will be surprised to know that many people discouraged Sonakshi from doing that Lootera as she revealed in an old interview, “I don’t believe I’m all that pretty. And I’ve never done a role to prove a point. I did Lootera because it came during the time I was doing masala films. It offered a refreshing change. The script was beautiful. My role was that of a TB patient. But I never consciously scouted for such a role. It just happened.”
She further said that she was told the time was not right to do that movie. In her words, “Everybody around me told me don’t do the ‘arty’ film. They told me the time was not right. That I needed to be way mature to portray that role. I was discouraged from doing that film. But I felt so strongly about the character that I went ahead and did it. And I’m glad that it was appreciated.”
Well, we are happy that Sonakshi ignored all those people and decided to act in Lootera as she was simply superb in the movie. What do you say?
