The highly anticipated release of Kanguva, featuring Suriya, Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, is set for November 14. The Tamil Nadu government has granted permission for five daily screenings of the film, a special arrangement deviating from typical show timings. However, early morning shows, such as 5 am screenings, were not authorized, with the earliest permitted screening slated for 9 am.
KE Gnanavel Raja’s Studio Green expressed gratitude to the state government for allowing this arrangement. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), they announced, “#Kanguva is all set to storm in cinemas near you with special 9 AM shows for its release. Thank you Tamil Nadu Government.” The government order, issued just days before the film’s release, stipulates that the fifth show must conclude by 2 am, with theatres required to ensure safety and security measures for the audience during screenings.

While Tamil Nadu’s regulations restrict early morning shows, other states like Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala will have even earlier screenings for Kanguva, starting as early as 4 am and this has really annoyed the Tamil movie fans especially because Kanguva stars the Tamil superstar, Suriya.
This reflects the tradition of early-morning screenings for major film releases in southern India, a practice curtailed in Tamil Nadu following a safety-related incident during Pongal 2023 releases. Despite discontent among exhibitors and distributors, who argue that such restrictions put Tamil releases at a disadvantage compared to neighboring states, the government remains firm in its position.
