The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is in great form as currently he is the highest scorer in the ongoing IPL 2024 and it is quite certain that he will be a part of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup but Virat Kohli’s RCB teammate doesn’t want him to be picked in India’s T20 WC squad.
Well, the statement has been made by Glenn Maxwell and he has certainly made it in jest. During an interview, Glenn Maxwell praised Virat Kohli as a cricketer and hoped that he doesn’t get picked up and for this, he also gave a reference of the match which was played between India and Australia in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
Glenn Maxwell stated, “Virat Kohli is the most clutch player I’ve ever played against. You see, his career just stands as the most amazing tournament rap sheet. I think the innings he played against us in Mohali in the 2016 T20 World Cup is still one of the best innings ever to have played against me and it changed the face of the whole game.”
He further said, “He was hitting balls on a wicket that was inconsistent into different areas and his ability to change his hands position at the last moment and flick it almost like a table tennis bat; and time it into a gap or over the fences, something that’s almost unmatched around the world. And his awareness of what he needs to do to win the game is phenomenal. It’s been great to sort of play alongside him and train with him and watch him go about it, but I still have to play against him so I’m hoping India doesn’t pick him. It’d be great to not have to come up against him.”
Glenn Maxwell talked about the match in which Virat Kohli scored 82 runs (51 balls) and helped his team chase the target of 161 runs on a tricky wicket. India played the semi-finals but lost it to West Indies which went on to win the T20 World Cup.
