India’s new pace sensation Mayank Yadav made an impressive international debut in the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior, where he consistently bowled at speeds nearing 150 km/h. The young fast bowler troubled the Bangladesh batters with his sheer pace and bounce, coupled with smart use of short-pitched deliveries that weren’t short enough for easy horizontal-bat shots.

Yadav’s debut was marked by a maiden over and a crucial wicket in his second, dismissing veteran all-rounder Mahmudullah. His aggressive bowling left a strong impression, signaling tough challenges ahead for Bangladesh in the remaining two matches of the series.

Despite Mayank’s strong debut, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remained calm about facing such pace. In his post-match comments, Shanto downplayed the impact of Yadav’s speed, saying, “We have some similar fast bowlers in the nets. I don’t think we were too worried about (Mayank Yadav). But he is a good bowler.”

Bangladesh, whose T20I squad lacks a regular 150 km/h bowler besides Taskin Ahmed (who consistently clocks above 140 km/h), have faced such pace before in their Test squad, with young bowler Nahid Rana nearing the 150 km/h mark.

India secured a comfortable 7-wicket win in the first T20I, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Mayank Yadav’s debut performance was one of the highlights of the match, adding excitement to India’s pace attack for the future.
