The former Indian cricketer and former head coach, Ravi Shastri criticized India’s bowling during the first session on Day 2 of the fourth Test against Australia, calling it “ordinary” and saying the team seemed to lack ideas.
Australia began the day at 311/6, with Steve Smith and captain Pat Cummins building a 112-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Cummins was dismissed for 49, but Smith went on to score his 34th Test century. Australia eventually posted a total of 474 before being bowled out.
Ravi Shastri questioned India’s decision to include two spinners, Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, when they were not used effectively. He pointed out that Jadeja was brought into the attack only after a 40-over gap, and Sundar bowled his first over much later. Speaking on Star Sports, Shastri said, “If you’re playing two spinners, you have to ask why they weren’t trusted. Spin wasn’t used as much as it should have been.”
By the end of the day 2, India’s score is 164/5 with Rishabh Pant (6*) and Ravindra Jadeja (4*) at the crease.
