The iOS beta version of WhatsApp, the instant messaging service owned by Meta, now allows users to exchange high-definition movies. Although the functionality keeps the films’ original size, some compression will still be used, making it impossible to transfer videos in their original quality. Therefore, if users wish to share a video with better quality, they must manually choose the high-quality option each time.

A tag indicating that a video has been sent utilizing the high-quality option will be added to the message bubble, according to WABetaInfo, notifying the receiver of the video’s transmission mode. However, when sharing videos through status updates, this capability is not available.

Additional profile icon improvements for group conversations are also being rolled out by the platform. The platform has specifically updated the contact profiles for those whose thumbnails were previously missing or concealed. The initials of each member of the group are now visible in these enhanced thumbnails.

Currently, only select beta testers who have the most recent version of WhatsApp beta installed on their iOS device may send high-quality videos and make improvements to profile icons within group conversations. Before a wider deployment to all iOS users, WhatsApp is anticipated to improve and enhance these features depending on user input.

The business recently debuted a new feature that enables customers to safely transfer their conversation history between devices running the same operating system.

According to the most recent update, WhatsApp users may now preserve their full chat and media history without ever leaving the app. As a consequence, there is no longer any need to rely on unauthorized third-party programs with opaque privacy practices.

Before beginning the conversation transfer, users must ensure that both their old and new devices are physically present, connected to Wi-Fi, and have location services switched on.
