2.5 magnitude earthquake hits Bageshwar, Uttarakhand

On Monday morning, earthquakes were detected in the Uttarakhand district of Bageshwar. According to the information, an earthquake occurred on Monday around 4.49 a.m.

The earthquake had a rating of 2.5 on the Richter scale. There is no evidence of damage to any tehsil. They felt less as a result of the delayed shock.

On January 24, last month, earthquake tremors were felt in various places of Uttarakhand. The earthquake’s epicentre was in Nepal. Then, in Uttarakhand, minor earthquakes were detected in various places, including Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Haldwani.

Mild earthquakes were also detected in the Uttarkashi district’s Bhatwadi, Maneri, and Chinyalisaur districts around the time.

Tremors from an earthquake were reported on the Indo-Nepal border two days before January 24. At 8:58 a.m., an earthquake of magnitude 3.8 struck TallaJohar, Munsiyari, and Bangapani tehsils in Pithoragarh district, near the India-Nepal border. The tremor lasted around three seconds. The earthquake was 10 kilometres deep.

Uttarakhand is particularly vulnerable to earthquakes. The majority of Uttarakhand is located in seismic zones 4 and 5.
