Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted that India has achieved another milestone in its digital health journey. With almost 27 lakh data linked in a day, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has reached the milestone of 1 crore digitally linked health records.
Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Health Minister, announced on Saturday that the country had reached another milestone in its digital health journey.
The Health Minister announced that the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) has reached the 1 crore digitally connected health records milestone, with over 27 lakh data linked in a single day.
“India has reached a new milestone in its digital health journey. With almost 27 lakh records linked in a day, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has reached the milestone of 1 crore digitally linked health records “Mandaviya said on Twitter.
On September 25, Mansukh Mandaviya was due to launch “Arogya Manthan 2022” to commemorate four years of implementation of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and one year of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) intends to build the backbone required to support the country’s integrated digital health infrastructure.
It would use digital highways to bridge the existing gap between the many players in the Healthcare ecosystem.
On February 26, 2022, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, authorised the five-year countrywide deployment of the Central Sector Scheme, the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The ABDM will be implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA). Over the years, digital health solutions in the healthcare ecosystem have shown to be extremely beneficial, with CoWIN, Arogya Setu, and e-Sanjeevani proving the role technology can play in allowing access to healthcare.
However, such solutions must be integrated for the continuum of care and optimal resource use.
The ABDM is developing a seamless online platform based on the Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and Mobile (JAM) trinity and other government digital initiatives, leveraging open, interoperable, standards-based digital systems while ensuring the security, confidentiality, and privacy of health-related personal information.
Citizens will be able to create their ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) numbers using the ABDM, which will be connected to their digital health information. This will enable the establishment of longitudinal health records for individuals across many healthcare providers, as well as improve clinical decision-making by clinicians.
According to the government, the mission will increase fair access to excellent healthcare by encouraging the use of technology such as telemedicine and enabling nationwide mobility of health services.
With a successful demonstration of the NHA’s technological platform, the pilot of ABDM was completed in the six Union Territories of Ladakh, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Puducherry, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. During the pilot test, a digital sandbox was built in which over 774 partner solutions were integrated.
As of February 24, 2022, there were 17,33,69,087 Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts and 10,114 physicians and 17,319 health institutions registered in ABDM.
ABDM will not only enable evidence-based decision-making for successful public health initiatives, but it will also drive innovation and create jobs throughout the healthcare ecosystem.
