Healthtech startup Breathe Well-being has secured funding of Rs 50 crore. The company will use the money to bolster its coaching academy, grow the core team, and scale up the technology platform to improve customer experience.
Breathe Well-being, a healthtech firm, stated on Thursday that it has secured Rs 50 crore in a fundraising round co-led by 3One4 Capital,Acceland General Catalyst. The round was also attended by FounderBank Capital and Supermorpheus.
According to a release, the cash will be used to bolster its coaching academy, increase the core staff, and scale up the technological platform to improve customer experience.
Breathe Well-being provides an alternative to medications for the prevention, management, and reversal of type 2 diabetes.
Rohan Verma and Aditya Kaicker launched the company in Gurgaon in 2020.
Verma, cofounder and CEO of Breathe Well-being, calls India ‘the diabetes capital of the world,’ and says his company is a mission to change that.
Our goal is to achieve diabetes mukt bharat (diabetes-free India), with the goal of reversing diabetes in one million Indians by 2025, and we are well on our way.”
Breathe Well-being employs a tailored coach-driven, community-first approach using interactive gamification to assist persons with type 2 diabetes in lowering HbA1c, losing weight, and decreasing medication use.
Radhika Ananth, vice president, Accel, said, “We have been pleased by how rapidly Breathe Well-being is becoming a household name for type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes reversal throughout tier 2 and 3 cities in India. Accel continues to support them in their ambition of creating a diabetes-free India.”
The firm says that its programme has a “proved outcome with over 95% participants exhibiting an average drop of 1.5% in their HbA1c readings, over 98% participants reducing medication, and over 98% participants eliminating medication, and experiencing an average weight loss of 5.5 kg over the course of the programme, which is recognised by the American Diabetes Association (ADA)”.
Co-founder and COO of Breathe Well-being, Kaicker, stated, “We have observed more than 90% of participants continue their improvements beyond 24 months into the programme. This is a strong sign of how engaged our overall strategy is, as well as people’s active willingness to stop using diabetic medication.”
