Oracle makes job cuts in its health unit; cancels job offers, gives pink slips

Oracle is laying off workers in its health unit, Cerner, due to the electronic medical records company’s challenging work with the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

Oracle is again cutting off jobs but now the software giant is laying off workers in the health unit. According to updates, the company handed pink slips to people and also receded the job offers, handed out to them.

This round of Oracle job cuts has largely affected  within the company’s health subsidiary Cerner. The exact number of workers affected by these layoffs is not known, but it may be in hundreds. 

Oracle’s health subsidiary, one that is affected by these job cuts, includes electronic medical records company  Cerner which it bought in December for $28.3 billion. It was also reported that these Oracle job cuts were largely because of the electronic medical records company’s challenged work with the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

Like many other businesses, people impacted by this round of Oracle job cuts will reportedly get severance pay equal to a month along with an extra week for every year of service and a payout of holidays. 

Oracle as well as several businesses worldwide have been making job cuts due to a global financial downturn.  Oracle job cuts would affect nearly 3,000 employees. But, the software company has still not officially commented on these layoffs.
