RAW chief Ravi Sinha is appointed by the government

On Monday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of veteran IPS officer Ravi Sinha for a two-year term as Chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), India’s external intelligence agency.

Samant Goel will be replaced after his contract expires on June 30 by the 1988 batch officer of the Chhattisgarh cadre, who is now the Special Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat.

The nomination of Sinha as Secretary, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), for a two-year term, was approved by the Cabinet’s Appointments Committee, according to the order. Samant Kumar Goel, whose term ends on June 30, 2023, is replaced by Sinha. For tenure of two years from the date of taking charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the government notification from the Personnel department stated, “For tenure of two years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”

The appointment of Shri Ravi Sinha, IPS (CG:88), PSO, Special Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat (SR) as Secretary, Research & Analysis Wing in place of Shri Samant K Kurnar Goel, IPS (PB:84) upon expiration of his term on June 30, 2023, was authorized by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, according to the ACC notification.
