Indian Railways to discontinue parcel service till Independence Day

Indian Railways will discontinue parcel service at Delhi-area stations from August 12-15 for security reasons. Registered newspapers and publications will still be shipped, but parcel godowns and platforms must be parcel-free. Commercial parcel arrangement will be discontinued. Employees are instructed to inspect and lock railway carriages.

On Independence Day 2023, Delhi officials are tightening security. Thus, Indian Railways would discontinue a vital service. From August 12 to 15, the railroads halted  parcel service at Delhi-area stations for security reasons. Wait three to four days to transport your bike, scooter, or other products to Delhi via train package. This will continue for registered publications and periodicals.

The Railways said Independence Day security has interrupted package service. New Delhi, Delhi Junction, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Anand Vihar Terminal, Delhi Sarah Rohilla, and Adarsh Nagar Delhi railway stations will discontinue parcel service on 12, 13, 14, and 15 August 2023.

Registered newspapers and publications will still be shipped. Parcel godowns and platforms must be parcel-free. All stations ban incoming, outgoing, and leased SLR, AGC, and VPS traffic.

Railways said commercial parcel arrangement will be discontinued from August 12. The coach allows baggage. After commercial requirements, registered newspapers and publications can be booked. This limitation applies to trains from other divisions/zones that load/unload in Delhi. From 12–15 August 2023, railways will not book packages at these stations.

Employees are instructed to examine and lock each railway carriage before sending them to the yard after reaching the station. Lock empty trains in the yard or platform. Two-wheelers and four-wheelers parked at the railway station parking lot must also be checked regularly. It must begin passenger rail investigations.
