Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday in the middle of the Mahadev Betting app controversy, claiming that Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel would receive a “clean chit” if he joined the party.
Speaking at the Mumbai book launch, Uddhav Thackeray predicted that if Mr. Baghel changes parties, the Mahadev Betting app would change its name to “har har mahadev.”
“Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel will not join BJP but if he joins then this Mahadev betting app will become har har Mahadev app and all the legal cases against him will be resolved,” Uddhav Thackeray stated.
Elections in Chhattisgarh will take place on November 7 and November 17. Just before the state’s assembly elections, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel became entangled in a corruption issue using the now-illegal Mahadev online betting app.
In a video released by the BJP on Sunday, Shubham Soni—who is one of the accused in the Mahadev Book betting app case—states that he is the “owner” of the online betting platform and that he has “proof” that he has paid Mr. Baghel ₹ 508 crore thus far.
A guy posing as Shubham Soni makes the assertion in the film that he is the proprietor of the Mahadev Book betting app.
According to him, ‘Baghel saheb’ and others have received ₹ 508 crore thus far. However, at the ED’s request, the Centre has blocked 22 illicit betting sites, including the Mahadev app, according to a statement released by the official on Sunday in New Delhi.
Last week, the ED, which is looking into the Mahadev betting app case, stated that forensic analysis and a statement from a “cash courier” had led to “startling allegations” that the promoters of the Mahadev betting app had paid Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel approximately ₹ 508 crore so far, and that “these are subject matter of investigation.”
