Australia is the second finalist team of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and it will face India in the final which will be played on 19 November at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
Yesterday, Australia defeated South Africa by 3 wickets in the second semi-final which was played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata and it won’t be wrong to say that the Proteas would have managed to win this match if they had not dropped plenty of catches.
The toss was won by South Africa and it chose to bat first but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, there was a time when the Proteas were reeling at the score of 24/4 and touching the three digit mark also seemed difficult. However, Heinrich Klaasen (47 runs) and David Miller (101 runs) played mature cricket and ensured that their team at least crossed the 200-run mark. SA posted a total of 212 on the scoreboard before the whole team got out in 49.4 overs.
The Aussies started well as their openers, Travis Head (62 runs) and David Warner (29 runs) produced a partnership of 60 runs for the first wicket but they also kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Australia managed to chase the target successfully in 47.2 overs as their tailenders batted with determination and guts.
