The Indian team may have lost the finals of the ICC ODI WC2023 to Australia but there is no denying the fact that it played like champions throughout the tournament and the Indian pacer Mohammed Shami played an important role in his team’s journey.

Mohammed Shami was benched for the first four matches but once he got the chance, he never looked back and ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 23 wickets. He also became the fastest to reach the 50 wicket mark in the World Cup as he did that in just 17 innings.

While Mohammed Shami and other Indian pacers were wreaking havoc on the opposition batters, some former Pakistani cricketers were trying to prove that some type of cheating is going on, for example Hasan Raza went on to claim that the Indian team is getting different balls to bowl, etc.

Even former Pak cricketer Wasim Akram got agitated with this allegation of Hasan Raza and slammed him brutally.

In an interview, Mohammed Shami expressed his sense of surprise over the fact that how a former player can say such things. Shami said, “I was benched for the first few matches and when I started playing, I picked up a 5-fer, then grabbed four wickets in the next game and another five-wicket haul thereafter. But kuch Pakistan ke players ko ye baat hazam nahi hui.” (A few Pakistani players couldn’t digest my success).

He further talked about his bowling and said, “It’s all about hitting the right target. If you are not doing it correctly, don’t even hope for positive results. I’m not blaming anyone. Instead, I pray for others to perform like this. I’m never jealous of anyone. You will be a better cricketer if you enjoy others’ success. So, I don’t do anything special. It’s all that almighty gives me.”

Well said, Mohammed Shami!
